Happiness Lives in the Heart, Not in the Circumstances

If I’ve learned anything on this journey, it’s that happiness is not found in perfect circumstances. It’s not in the days without struggle or the moments where everything is easy. It’s not in the absence of hardship but in the presence of love, strength, and the determination to keep moving forward.

My husband and I know what it’s like to have life change in an instant. PNES (Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures) is not just a condition—it’s a storm that comes without warning, a battle that we wake up to every single day. There are moments when it feels like we are barely holding on, like the weight of it all is too much. The unpredictability, the exhaustion, the emotional toll—it’s real, and it’s heavy.

But here’s what we’ve found: joy, hope, and love still exist, even here.

Happiness is not in the perfect days—it’s in the way we face the hard ones together. It’s in the quiet moments when my husband reaches for my hand after a seizure, reminding me that we are still here, still fighting. It’s in the laughter we find between the tears, the resilience that refuses to let this battle define us.

Finding life again is not about going back to what was—it’s about creating something new. Something stronger. Something even more beautiful. It’s about choosing to see light, even when the darkness tries to take over. It’s about celebrating small victories, embracing love in its purest form, and holding onto faith that better days will come.

To anyone facing their own battle, I want you to know this: your circumstances do not determine your happiness. Your heart does. And no matter how hard the road may be, there is still beauty to be found, love to hold onto, and reasons to keep going.

You are not alone. Keep fighting forward. Keep believing that joy can still bloom in the middle of the struggle. Because I promise you—it can.
